Rotor module
E-Box
From alternating current to a charged battery: the electrical heart of the Rotor.
Working principle
How the E-Box works
The AC current from the generator has to be rectified to charge the battery, which buffers surplus power. A power controller and a voltage converter are connected upstream of the battery. To protect the Rotor against overload, the power controller limits the power extraction. The voltage converter keeps the voltage at a constant 13.6 V, at which the battery can be charged permanently. These tasks are usually covered by a charge controller.
The battery is connected via a 20 A fuse to the battery guard, which limits the maximum discharge current and protects against overheating. Consumer electronics can be plugged into the car accessory socket, provided their consumption does not exceed the supply limit of 20 A.
